LABORATORIES

Pedagogy • Training

For us, theatre is not just a destination; it is a way of travelling together.

Over a decade ago, we began sharing workshops, and since then, we have travelled along paths stretching from the Basque Country to the Andes, from Switzerland to the Balkans and many other corners of the world, encountering diverse languages, cultures and realities. Every encounter has left its mark on our pedagogy.

DesAires’ way of working is rooted in physical theatre and draws inspiration from the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq, but it is nourished above all by the creative processes we have experienced over the years, by our travels and by our human encounters. Every workshop is a living experience forged by the people who take part in it. Every workshop is unique.

We have learnt to listen to the body. We are still learning. We take play very seriously. Sparking the imagination. Celebrating the freedom to make mistakes. Wandering through the realms of poetry. Theatre becomes a tool for looking at ourselves, looking at others and seeing the world through different eyes.

We do not teach answers. We do not offer fixed methods. We want to create spaces where we can share questions.

Over the years, hundreds of people of different ages and backgrounds have taken part in our workshops. Each experience has been different, but they all share something essential: the memory of a shared world.

Over the years, we have shared numerous workshops and educational trips, each with its own questions, languages, objects, tools and research. The two proposals we present below also evolve each year, but they are two landscapes that have taken root over time; two gateways to understanding our pedagogy.
